Discovery without the black box

Crate Digger is an open-source music discovery system built for active exploration rather than passive recommendation. It follows connections between artists, labels, collaborators, eras, and scenes, then preserves the path that led to each find.

Why it exists

Most recommendation products optimize for uninterrupted listening. Crate Digger optimizes for curiosity: a tool for listeners who want to understand why two records belong near each other and choose where to dig next.

The project is also working proof of how I build: define the useful decision first, choose a restrained architecture, and ship the smallest system that can teach us something real.
